More thread kits

We have been working hard here at the studio to complete oure inventory of complete kits whuch include a marked canvas, instruction book and all threads/ribbons and embellishments.  We now have complete kits available for 10 designs with Secret Garden following in about 10 days.

Color Kaleidoscope (above) is the latest kit to be added to the inventory.  It has over 40 threads and beads, with lots of partial skeins, so it is not one we put together on a regular basis. Click here for more information on Color Kaleidoscope.

Would it be helpful if we carried stretcher bars for each size canvas we use?  I would love to hear from you.

One framed and one pillow

Here is Color Kaleidoscope finished into a really cute pillow.  Marlene, of Marlene Custom Pillows, did a great job.  The fabric has an interesting weave to it and she custom dyed both the ball fringe and the corkscrew fringe to match. The overall dimensions of the pillow are 13" square.  It is a little hard to see all the beads, so look carefully.

And here is a picture of Leaf Collage now that it is framed.  The main outside mat is a medium gold and the inner mat is a dark red.  The two rows of darkest blue along the inside edge barely show.

Both of these will be offered at the ANG seminar next year in San Antonio.  Hope to see you there!

Now back to finishing up kits for this year's seminar in Columbus.  The end of the summer has arrived!  Where did my summer go? Only 5 more days into September 1st.....and to me.....the beginning of fall.

Happy stitching.....

COLOR KALEIDOSCOPE

The last few weeks have been busy, with teaching a new class and finishing up proposals for 2011.  I am putting the finishing touches on the last one today and they go in the mail on Monday! Color Kaleidoscope, shown above, is new I will be submitting, in addition to Leaf Collage (previously shown).  As you can see I have finished the left side, complete with the beads.  The total size is 7" X 7" but I do plan to add a border, which will add about another 1/2" to 1".

For the proposal I sketched in the outline for the second half and then blocked in the colors with two to three layers of water color, followed up with color pencils for definition.   There wasn't enough room to scan the drawing turned on point as I would have liked.....but hopefully you can get the idea.

This is my interpretation of a 12-point color wheel with the emphasis being on complimentary and analogous colors.  It  has taken 31 threads and beads so far...just to stitch the first half....and I estimate 40 to 45 threads and beads overall.

I've had a lot of fun designing this project.  Can you begin to pick out the complimentary color patterns? And I know it is might be hard to see, but the beads are in the skinniest, zig zag patterns (green and red-orange).  I really like those flat, square beads.

Wishing everyone a great week and better weather.
